Colleen Cudgma RN

Colleen Cudgma RN joined us about a year ago.

She has quickly become a valuable member of our team. Colleen has worked for us at Beth Israel in Plymouth, Brigham & Women’s and Insulet.

Here is her story:

Growing up, my aunt Linda, an LPN, used to visit my family every weekend before her 3-11 pm shift at the hospital. She was only 14 years older than me, and I looked up to her like an older sister. Her shared nursing stories always intrigued me, and she would often tell me that I should become a nurse.

After spending a couple of years at college in a Liberal Arts program, I decided to listen to my aunt and pursue what would quickly become a passion for nursing. At the time, it was not an easy choice to extend the time I would be away from home. It did not take long to realize that it would be one of the best decisions of my life.
The nursing profession has allowed me to fulfill my calling to serve others. The flexibility provided around hours and shifts has enabled me to adjust my work-life balance as needed while raising three children. Most importantly, having an opportunity to take on different roles within the profession has served to keep me continuously learning and challenging myself in new ways. Finally, there is great satisfaction in consulting with family members and friends to help guide them in health decisions.

Advice for new nurses would be to always keep your foot in the door in some capacity of nursing.
For fun, I love to take long walks, spending time with family, the beach, cooking, organizing and decorating!
