Here is Malissa’s story:
Hello! My name is Malissa O’Brien formerly known as Malissa Christeson. That’s right, I tied the knot with My Sweet Patrick on March 20, 2021.
I started working for Occupational Health Connection in June of 2020 and have worked in a variety of settings from constructions sites to vaccination clinics. I am currently working for Amgen at their manufacturing site in Woburn. Occupational Health Nursing…I am humbled and challenged every workday.
I received my share of compassionate nursing care as a child. Those experiences created a desire in me to give the same TLC back to those in need. I became an LPN in 2004 and an RN in 2008. More schooling to come! I am so grateful to have worked in so many different nursing settings such as hospital and home health. Each setting offers its own unique flavor which has made my career quite tasty!
When I am not working, I enjoy spending time with family, having fellowship with friends and attending mission trips abroad. My favorite mission trip thus far has been to Roatan, Honduras.
My advice to new nurses would be to
* Have patience with yourself
* Know it’s ok to not know the answer but not ok to not seek it out
* Remember to have compassion no matter how awkward a patient or their situation may seem
* Take every opportunity (while being appropriate) you can to share a few laughs with your coworker!
