Kristina Pelletier RN joined OHC last September.
Kristina has helped with covid screenings at Worcester Poly Tech & Holy Cross College as well as the Amazon construction site & Insulet.
She is flexible and helpful. We are glad she has joined our team.
Here is Kristina’s story:
Nursing is actually my second career. I was a hairstylist for over 5 years before going back to school full time to pursue my dream career of nursing. I always had an interest in nursing (my mother is a nurse), but I was too afraid I would not succeed and didn’t go for it. I knew I wanted a career that involved caring for people and making a difference in their lives which would in turn be rewarding for me. I was not fully satisfied with the path I chose so I went for it later in life and I am so glad I did. Best decision I ever made.
I work at Umass Memorial and OHC
How you ended up in occ health? One of my coworkers was telling me about her husband’s per diem job and sent me the information, which I am so thankful he did!
What is your job at OHC like? – I currently work per diem at 3 different sites. I am either at Amazon construction site screening workers for COVID symptoms and taking their temperatures, or at Holy Cross overseeing students and faculty take COVID tests, or at Insulet in Acton screening the workers for COVID.
Any lessons learned?
There are so many different paths you can take in this profession and so many different experiences you can have and people you can meet.
Any advice for the next generation of nurses?
In this field you are constantly learning and growing, embrace it, go with it, and do the best you can do! Also, mental health and taking care of yourself should always be a priority!
For fun- Anything outdoors, spending time with family and friends, food, and dogs!
